The recent news in the car industry is the ban of car entertainment systems in Mumbai.
Since past many years, traffic police of almost all Indian cities have banned the use of mobile. The key reason was the increasing incidences of car accidents due to distraction and reduced concentration caused due to mobile chattering behind the wheel.
Now, the traffic cops in Mumbai feel that even music creates distraction while driving. The Mumbai police have now decided to fine the car driver found listening to music. The first fine would be Rs 1000 and for the subsequent offense, the police would charge Rs 200. They feel that the in-car entertainment system is one of the major factors contributing to road accidents.
This is a great setback not only for the car owners but also for the car audio-visual industry. People drive with music on to soothe their nerves in the traffic crazed roads. But now what?
What will happen to already installed music systems in cars? How will car audio manufacturers react to this ban? What will traffic police ban next?

Music banned on car? this is one of th ridiculous rule i have ever come across. If music distract driving then what about the the indisciplined traffic rules?
Ban on music is bad. What about the high amount of investment young car owners have made on high-end music systems. Ban on music is not doing any good; it will simply make young drivers more aggressive in their behaviour. This may even lead to road rage.
Music banned? I really don’t believe this. That's something bad. Traffic cops in Mumbai are doing injustice both to car drivers and car audio manufacturers. The complete sector of automotive entertainment will face a setback. What about the thousands of investment car owners have made on the car entertainment system? What about the car audio manufacturers whose stocks will get piled up with every passing day.
That’s right! Car audio manufacturers and car drivers will really have a tough time. How will they now soothe their nerves during heavy traffic on Indian roads? I think the traffic police should rethink over the issue.
No! This should not happen. Music lovers like me will keep on giving fine to the cops but will still listen to music while driving. Can anyone of you see any benefit in banning music system while driving?
Glory is the shadow of virtue.
