Garuda, a super mileage car, is finally ready to be launched!
The launch of this super mileage, fuel-efficient car in this era of rising fuel prices and high interest rates is a big revolution in the Indian car industry. The launch of this car is also credited to the various issues including oil crisis, environmental pollution and aggressive search of alternative fuel sources.
The new electric car is manufactured by students of Mechanical Department of RV College of Engineering in Bangalore and is expected to be unveiled in August, 2008 at the college campus.
This super fuel efficient car is designed and manufactured with latest cutting edge technology. This will be the first Indian car that is completely ready to participate in the “SAE Supermileage International Competition” in USA and “Shell Eco-Marathon” in the UK.
Will the proposed launch of Garuda threaten the only electric car Reva Maini in India? Reason being that both the cars have a common start, from the Indian IT hub, Bangalore.
Cool to know that many car manufacturers are coming out with fuel efficient cars. I dont remember there was one more auto maker who had announced to roll out electric cars. There is a huge demand in the car market for fuel efficient cars. I think it will be successful and might make a fair competition with Reva. Again it all happens only with time.
Hey! Bangalore is an IT hub. Is the city now planning to become a hub of electric cars? I wonder if it is a coincidence that both the electric cars in India started their journey from Bangalore. There are only two electric cars in India, so the competition between the two is definite.
Reva has established a strong platform in the country but the month of July was a bit tough for the company to stay with the earned acclamation. Load shedding in the city had taken many customers away from Reva. But I am sure that with the entry of this new electric car, the race will begin and the lost reputation of Reva will be rcovered.
Feel really proud that the students have done a mind blowing job. Hope this car makes wonders in the car industry. There hard work should be paid. And with the hike of fuel prices now and then. Good that they have come up with such cars. I think had read that even one more car manufacturer had planned to launch electric car in India.
Finallyyyyy!!!!!! this is the best option to fight the raising fuel problem.It is high time that other car makers also start rolling out fuel-efficient cars. i am really proud that today's generation is thinking thinking green.
Garuda a threat to Reva Maini.
All are anxiously awaiting for Garuda, the super mileage car, from the IT Hub. The Reva which also sprouts from the same soil, may have to move to make way for its sibling. Completely manufactured by the students of a famous Engg College in Bangalore. Hope it gives what the customer actually wants.!!
