Green Technology Goes Cheaper and Greener

With the rise in inflation and increasing pollution, the government is also supporting the innovative green technology. The Government of India is planning to cut down excise and custom duties on eco-friendly cars in order to encourage the use of alternative fuel sources. At present, only Honda Civic hybrid is there in the country, the car that is attracting an import duty of 104%.

Policy makers and finance ministry are all supporting and encouraging the production of hybrids. Tata and Mahindra are also planning to enter the market with hybrid versions of Indica and Scorpio, respectively.

In other countries hybrid cars are given a favourable tax treatment and if the same applies to India, then both the production and sale will boost in no time. Car manufacturers are ready with their ideas – they just need liberal rules and policies to implement their ideas into successful plans that will definitely be beneficial for the country.

I recently read somewhere that we have nearly about 51 lakh petrol cars on Indian roads which are consuming around 315 crore litre of petrol a year. This in turn is making the environment more polluted. High inflation has worsened the condition. The only thing that can stop this pollution and fight the high inflation is the introduction of more hybrid cars in the country. If the government really reduces excise and custom duties on hybrid cars, I am sure that more car makers will enter the race of producing hybrids. The problems of pollution and fuel shortage will also get solved.

Governments presence is very important for any industry and definitely if the government is supporting to eco-friendly cars by giving right treatment for the hybrid cars then atleast a part of the pollution and inflation can be reduced. Its just that it needs to encourage hybrid cars in India like how other countries are doing it and definitely the country can go greener.

There has been a huge increase of cars in India. Each and every individual owns a car today and the country is becoming over populated with cars due to this. There has also been a drastic increase in pollution. But this is a good plan from the Indian government on reducing car prices for the Hybrid cars as this encourages many of the car buyers to go for eco-friendly cars.
