It’s shocking to know that old cars were more fuel efficient than the ones being produced nowadays. With the growing air pollution and fuel price hike, the issue of fuel efficiency has gained importance among buyers. Now, consumers are taking special interest to know the mileage of a car they wish to buy. CSE (Centre of Science and Environment) has estimated that cars manufactured post 2000 with 1.4-litre engines emit 143 gm/km of carbon dioxide which is much less compared to 173 gm/km emissions by 2005 models with the same engine. Overall, the fuel efficiency has dropped from 16 km/litre to 13 km/litre.
The number of car buyers has increased several fold across the country. Consumers have become conscious of what they want to buy and desire to know the exact technical details of car models. Fuel economy is now a top priority when it comes to buying cars.

The car companies are surely taking a lot for granted. They are paying no heed to rising crude oil prices. And when people go for smaller cars, the big car manufacturers say that the market is not worth it.
Maybe asking for fuel efficiency from car manufacturers is just too much to ask.
Earlier importance was given to power and performance rather than looks. But now a days people go for style and luxury and therefore the car manufacturers are concentrating on those fields.
Old is always gold. The old cars were known for its power and performance.Unlike today, earlier cars had good fuel mileage.
