Several big car brands are being off-loaded by American car manufacturers. Ford recently handed over the iconic brands Jaguar and Land Rover to Tata Motors. Car manufacturing biggies such as Ford and General Motors have a large number of popular brands under their wing. In the ever changing global market of cars, these large car corporations have found it difficult to sustain a vast spread of car brands and models and have resorted to unloading a few of those that have been pulling them down.

General Motors has decided to sell off the popular ‘Hummer’ brand. In the glory days, Hummer has rolled out several bad boy SUVs across the world. These mean machines have been quite popular with the US army and have seen a lot of action in battle. They have even starred in quite a few hollywood war movies.
General Motors is putting the Hummer up for sale. Both Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra, who were front runners for the Jaguar and Land Rover dealer, have shown interest.

A hummer for sale. I thought it was America's pride. Afterall it is was used extensively by US army and later became popular with the masses. If hummer does not make sense to a big corporation like GM, then it surely is unaffordable by Indian companies. May be they should leave hummer for somebody else
I don't think Tata or M&M will be interested in Hummer as they are concentrating on passenger car.
In time when fuel efficiency is the norm, hummer makes little sense. No wonder that GM wants to off load it. Nobody want to be associated with the bad boy Hummer anymore. It has been criticised since its inception for high oil consumption.
Hummer is such a popular brand and i wonder why GM plans to sell it.However it will be best suited for M&M as presently they are only concentrating on SUV segment and with Hummer added, their sales will boost up.
Hummer on sale is big news. But it comes as no surprise as Big car being offloaded by bigger companies. They just cannot carry the burden of fuel- inefficienct vehicles.
Hummer is no great piece of car designing. Indian companies should not invest huge money on something that will soon become redundant.
