Tata’s Policy for Nano
The world’s cheapest small car, Tata Nano, created several emotions in several countries. While it was the cutie that all eyes at the Geneva Motor show in March followed, it created fear in North American countries of overtaking their domestic products.
It braved a lot of criticism by environmentalists when it was unveiled in January 2008. Even though it is not yet launched, it continues to make news in several countries for various reasons. However, Tata Motors, in response to remarks stated that the Nano is not likely to touch the US market; Tata will only market the Nano in promising countries. Tata has always given priority to its Indian market before its African, Asian and European markets.
We will have to wait and see if the same policy applies to the Nano.

I am glad that US market which is credited the best cars first, is last on the list of Tata Motors. They may not get a nano from domestic distributors. Nano will have to be imported if anyone there want's it. I think Nano will be a reward to all the efforts of US to develop easy mobility.
The cheapest small car in the world will not be available in cars mecca USA. American media had come down hard on Tata Motors for developing a cheap car saying it would lead to environment disaster. The criticism decibels cooled after it was launched. It just goes to show the small car is the fashion statement of this century.
