Beetle comes later in 2008
Beetle may arrive in India ahead of its schedule in 2009. According to Mr. Joerg Mueller, managing director and president of Volkswagen, the costliest hatchback of India – the Beetle may arrive later this year.
If launched as announced, India will be the only country which will witness the launch of the world’s cheapest car Tata Nano and one of the costliest hatch the Beetle. Both have been dubbed as the ‘People‘s Car’ at different times in history. It will be interesting to see how the two fare in the markets when they arrive. India will be creating history with the launch of both the cars together in the same quarter of the year.

Interesting that two people's car will fight it out to win over customers. As Nano and Beetle have hardcore fans, it will be impossible to compare both of them.
But India will surely be a part of auto history.
there is no comparison to Beetle, it is one of the best car and Nano can never even think of competing with it.This "bug" has already won many hearts and will remain one of the favorites for ever.
Nano and Beetle belong o different eras. They cannot be compared in the name of people's car. Beetle's impact was limited to western societies for a long time. But Nano, since its launch, has appealed to all societies and countries. Moreover, Nano has beaten Beetle in terms of cost and affordability. Only Nano can be termed as the real people's car.
