Nano is bringing down prices of second hand cars
I have good news for all car lovers. You can now take home used cars like Maruti 800 or Hyundai Santro at very competitive prices. The prices have been dropping since the one lakh car Tata Nano was unveiled in January. Now that the news of the launch of this small car in October is official, i can guarantee you that the prices of second hand cars will come down even further.
When I went to purchase a used car in November last year, I was told that a 2002 Maruti 800 was available for Rs. 1.1 lakh. I was surprised to find out that the same car was selling for Rs. 85,000 in January. This is when I noticed the effect that Nano was having. I have been following this trend closely since then and want to let all of you know of this as well.

Nano fever is taking away all the sales from the new car as well as from the used cars.I am a used car dealer and after its launch many buyers have postponed their buy. They are getting a brand new car which is much lesser than the used car and thats is why the are waiting for Nano. They are right from their point of view, but what about our living?
Not only has the prices of M800 come down but also cars like WagonR, Santro Xing and Alto are going down. But it remains to be seen whether the phase is temporary or long lasting. My advise to those looking for second hand small cars is that they wait till September/October; when the Nano fever will be the highest and second hand car market could bite dust. You could get the cheapest deal then.
Nano is getting over hyped and i am seriously confused with Tata's so 'take it light' attitude.I completely agree with Mr Khan, if they are playing hard then they may completely loose it.They should understand that the product success lies in the hands of the buyers not the makers!
M800 may hit rock bottom prices for the first time in two decades. But i think that the prices will stabilize as only a small number of Nano is expected to appear in showrooms in October. M800 is a nice car and is easy for first time drivers. I think the demand for the car will never come down, even with Nano.
