In a recent report I read that the Maruti Alto was going to soon cross the 10 lakh cars mark. I also own an Alto LXi and I must say that its ride quality is good. Don’t go by its looks on the outside. It has more space in the interiors than one without Alto experience can imagine.
I hope the Alto crosses the two million mark and sets a world record - which I do not think is impossible in India.

I love Alto, though a little small but it is best suited for the small families. The sales growth itself shows how popular is the car and this adds up another feather in Maruti's hat.
Alto may have crossed the one million mark but its success cannot be completely credited to car itself. Indian economy saw a boom in the same time and more people coming into the higher income brackets bought cars. People were bored with M800 and Alto was the next best alternative. I think that without the name Maruti behind it, alto would have been history a long time ago.
Alto is definitely a good car for cities and small trips. But the low seating causes backache in long journeys. I wish if the car manufacturer had raised the seating position slightly higher, it would have made a huge difference in sales altogether. But i wish that Alto continues to cross new milestones every year.
I was impressed with Alto's sales performance. Alto has quickly reached the one million mark when other cars have taken more including the M800.
If it has impressed so many people, i think it is a good car for my daughter. I plan to buy an alto when she graduates this year.
