Hurrah for Green Cars – Ethanol can get cheaper!

I just read that the oil ministry has decided to give Ethanol a declared goods status, which means that its cost could go down compared to its current cost of Rs 28 per litre. I have been following up the news about the launch of the Hybrid green cars that Honda and Toyota are suppose to launch this year. Naturally, I am an eco-friendly guy and I like the idea of my kids growing up in greener city than what I get to see now!

Ethanol is the favoured fuel for these hybrid green cars and if this policy goes through, then ethanol will become the cheapest fuel for cars. So, like nowadays, Diesel cars cost more than Petrol cars because diesel is cheaper than petrol, similarly these Hybrid cars may be the most expensive of the lot, but the fuel and daily expenditure on the car will be comparatively the least.

These green cars keep sounding better and better!

  1. I hope these green cars arrive soon. I have been driving around a Reva for some time, but i cant take it out of the city, because of its limited capability. I will one of the first to buy a ethanol based hybrid car, when it comes to India.

  2. That is a great news!with the government's certification people will opt for it.I never knew much about ethanol and this this blog helped me with the information. Thanks!

  3. It is not enough if ethanol is relaxed from duty structure. The government should think about subsidizing development of green cars in India. I am sure that there is no dearth of talent for developing such as vehicle in India.

  4. Green cars, environmental friendly cars…. is seen only in news are are people actually taking care of the environmet? There are very few people who use eco-friendly car.All that matter is style is status.

  5. If you’re still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you’ll know which is right for you.
