The stuff inside the secret bag is out? Now the car and two-wheeler manufacturers will reveal data on fuel efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions to the government. Good news indeed!
The manufacturing industry has agreed to share the data after a third round of meetings, but a major newspaper today revealed that if the automotive industry is unable to share the data, then the government will find their own ways to recover such data from the market and agencies like the Indian Institute of Petroleum.
I am happy to see such firm decisions by Indian government to combat environmental pollution. As they always say, better late than never!

This is a great news,Finally the car makers decided to spill the beans. Now i can say that the government is working effectively, hope goverment takes such stern decision in all matters.
It is great news that car industry will finally spare the public with details of exact fuel efficiency and green house gases. Those who are concerned about environment will get a clearer picture of what they are buying finally.
But the government should make sure that information is relevant to urban places where pollution levels are the highest.
I find it strange that car manufacturers do not want to give away the correct fuel efficiency and green house emission data to the government.
They are very well aware of the global warming issue and should take such things seriously instead of concentrating on profit motives. A short sighted view will prove harmful in the long run.
It is high time that the car manufacturers took responsibility of the global warming and provided correct data. Hiding information from concerned departments will only escalate it further. Studies have also revealed that car are the biggest source of global warming in the world. They should comply when required.
Car manufacturers have to be forthcoming with these facts. From the consumer's point of view it is important that he know if the car is spewing toxic fumes causing a danger to others lives.
I am glad that the government is pressuring them to come up with the details at last.
