Mahindra decides to go green

The green car concept is fast catching up with Indian companies. Mahindra and Mahindra will be investing US $ 25.4 million to adopt better emission standards. The new range of hybrid vehicles is likely to be implemented in the hugely popular Scorpio and Bolero vehicles.

The newly engine will be developed in accordance with the US emission norms. Mahindra has entered the US market in 2007. The demand for green vehicle is rising in US and more and more companies are adopting the green car concept.

It has already come up with a newly improved engine M-Hawk, which is currently under production. The company is investing in research for bio-diesel variants and battery powered cars.

  1. It is high time that the Indian automobile makers changed lanes to green. Pollution watchers have been crying loud over rising pollution levels in all major cities. But None had taken note of it. Now that Mahindra is pressurized by US government to adopt Green Technologies, it has shown some initiative. It remains to be seen whether the green cars will come to India after all.

  2. The green car concept has become a trend among the car makers now. but are they really up to the standard of no pollution or low pollution? If the car is following the emission norms then its is one of the best thing India can have.i hope other firms also takes up this concept to make India greener.
