The prototype is ready and has been test driven at the company’s Pune factory. Tata Motors hopes to roll out the small car from its upcoming plant in Singur in West Bengal by mid-2009. The entire automobile world is waiting to see the one lakh car. If Tata manages to sell the car in large numbers and also convince the big players, then it could become the largest car maker by the turn of the decade.
Tata has taken its role as an Indian automaker seriously. It is bringing in India centric vehicles. They will also display several new cars to be introduced in collaboration with Fiat and buses from the joint venture with Marcopolo of Brazil. Newly developed multi-axle heavy trucks, pickup vehicles, applications of panel vans, and new mini-trucks are in line for release.
